Bachman Stories

Another Old World custom of the Pretzel is associated with love and romance.

A wood cut from a stained glass window found in Switzerland is a representation of how, for centuries, the Pretzel has held an honored place in the Wedding celebration.

Once upon a time, on a beautiful day in May, a Royal Wedding was being celebrated with an abundance of dancing, singing and good food.

The handsome Prince and beautiful Princess captured the hearts of the people with their youth, vibrancy and true love for one another.

As the crowd of well-wishers gathered to toast the Royal couple, much to everyone's surprise, the newlyweds added a special "twist" of their own. A freshly baked Pretzel shaped like a nuptial knot was presented to them.

The Princess held onto one side; the Prince the other. The lovers each paused in deep thought, made a wedding wish, then pulled on the Pretzel which split exactly in half. A cheer went up from the crowd.

This lovely, old tradition continues as wishing on a Pretzel is still a symbol of love and affection anytime, but especially at weddings.

Just like Royalty in the old days, lovers today get their wish with the help of a Pretzel.
